DeAyrus Smith is a native of Linden, AL in Marengo County. He is a 2001 graduate of Linden High School. He continued his education and matriculated at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) where he earned a double major in Management Information Systems and Business Administration in December 2005.
In February 2006, DeAyrus Smith answered his call in to the gospel ministry. He has served under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Joseph P. Harper of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Linden and Pastor T.C. Johnson of the St. Luke Christian Church in Huntsville. Pastor Smith was licensed in June 2006 and ordained December 2007.
Pastor D., as he is affectionately known, currently serves as a Business Analyst and Contracting Officer Representative with the United States Department of Treasury here in Birmingham, AL.
Full of energy and zeal for preaching God’s Word, in April 2011, he was elected as senior pastor of his first congregation at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Demopolis, AL. It was there where he began to dig deeper into God’s Word and share the gospel of peace to all who entered the doors. Pastor Smith is a lover of the Word of God and the people of God. Because of his passion and hunger for God’s Word, he returned to school and earned his Masters of Art Degree in Christian Studies.
Pastor Smith is married to the love of his life, Sasha Pitts Smith. He is the father of two girls, Arianna and Braelyn. He is a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliated and is an initiate of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he is currently an active member of the Delta Phi Lambda chapter in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Pastor Smith is a lover of family and friends and loves to have fun. He enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hunter and a fisherman and doesn’t mind working in the outside.
